What are the differences between pet and acrylic
一、 Different material compositions
PET plastic, also known as polyethylene terephthalate, has the chemical formula [COC6H4COOCH2CH2CH2O] n. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a common resin in daily life, which is synthesized by exchanging dimethyl terephthalate with ethylene glycol or esterification of terephthalic acid with ethylene glycol to synthesize dihydroxyethyl terephthalate, followed by condensation reaction.
Acrylic, also known as PMMA or plexiglass, is derived from acrylic (acrylic plastic) in English, and its chemical name is polymethyl methacrylate. It is an important plastic polymer material developed earlier.
二、 Different performance characteristics
1. Performance characteristics of PET:
It has excellent physical and mechanical properties over a wide temperature range, with a long-term use temperature of up to 120 ℃. It has excellent electrical insulation, and even at high temperatures and frequencies, its electrical performance is still good. However, it has poor corona resistance, creep resistance, fatigue resistance, friction resistance, and dimensional stability.
2. Acrylic performance characteristics:
It has crystal like transparency, white light irradiation, pure light transmission, no yellowing, bluing, and high light transmittance. It has excellent weather resistance, high surface hardness and gloss, and good high-temperature performance. Due to good processing performance, it can be either Thermoforming or mechanical processing.
The wear resistance of acrylic board is similar to that of aluminum material, with good stability and resistance to various chemical corrosion. And it has good printability, spray resistance, and flame resistance.
三、 Different uses
1. PET plastic is widely used, mainly in the fields of electronic appliances; It can be spun into polyester fiber, i.e. polyester; Thin films can be made into substrates, insulation films, product packaging films, etc. for recording, recording, and film production; Can be blown into various bottles, such as cola bottles, mineral water bottles, etc; Can be used as electrical components, bearings, and gears; Can be extruded into decorative films/sheets for household panels.
2. Acrylic is mainly used in construction, such as acrylic panels, acrylic artificial marble, acrylic bathtubs, etc; Can be used as latex paint and adhesive, etc.
